Jessica Swan grew up in Bakersfield, California, a town nestled in the sun-bleached hills of the San Joaquin Valley. Raised by an all-American father and a "very" French mother, Swan learned early on how to bind her love of storytelling with her passion for originality. Her characters often possess troubled emotional landscapes, due to Swan's obsession with unearthing and exposing the emotions that navigate tragedy and fear. Swan's favorite writers include: G.K. Chesterton for his wit; Vladimir Nabokov for his intensity; and Marguerite Duras for her subtlety. Swan is also an avid reader of Greek and Roman classics. Swan is the author of Dear Isabelle, a psychological thriller set in Seattle, Washington that made its debut in May 2007 (Harbor House Books, Augusta, Georgia ISBN-10: 1891799703 and ISBN-13: 978-1891799709) and was profiled on NPR. She has also been published in the academic journal, The Behavior Analyst, and her articles and columns have appeared in Psychology Today Magazine for nearly four years. Swan also co-authored a nonfiction book entitled The Big Book of Motivation Games, (May 2001 McGraw-Hill, New York) ISBN-10: 0071372342, under her maiden name of Jessica Rogers. This book was also later translated in Chinese and published again in 2003 by the Shanghai Scientific and Technical Information Publishing House in Shanghai. During that time, she received her BA degree in Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley. Swan currently lives with her husband David in London. Email: swan.jessica@gmail.com
